What is the opinion of the Lord God regarding divorce? What tells the Holy Book the Bible about that? Has the man or the woman the right to marry again after the divorce? This subject is a continuation of the secret and meaning behind the marriage. However, also in the time of Jesus Christ people had many questions about the marriage and divorce. In Matthew 19:3 people ask Jesus,, Does our Law allow a man to divorce his wife for whatever reason he wishes?" We see here that the problems concerning the divorce have kept always people busy. The people had apparently also in the time of Jesus questions about marriage and divorce. They were interested to get some explanation about that. Our Lord Jesus Christ gives answer to their question as follows, He says,, Haven't you read the scripture that says that in the beginning the Creator made people male and female? And God said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and unite with his wife, and the two will become one'. So they are no longer two, but one. Man must not separate, then, what God has joined together" Our Lord Jesus is referring to the Old Testament when He says,, Haven't you read the scripture.. that is the explanation which I gave in part I. Dear reader please pay attention to the fact when our Lord Jesus says,, . Man must not separate,. This means that the divorce is not in agreement with the wiliness of the Lord God. In reality, there are a lot of "so called" Christians who are divorced. This is a terrible happening. It is also very sad, that some clergymen give permission for divorce. Those clergymen are actually fulfilling their duty towards the Lord God very bad!. The Apostle Peter, the first Patriarch of the Syrian Church, describes the duty of a clergymen (priest, bishop, monk and Patriarch) as follows,, "I, who am an elder myself, appeal to the church elders among you. I am a witness of Christs sufferings, and I will share in the glory that will be revealed. I appeal to you to be shepherds of the flock that God gave you and to take care of it willingly, as God wants you to, and not unwillingly. Do your work, not for more pay, but from a real desire to serve. Do not try to rule over those who have been put in your care, but be examples to the flock" (1 Peter 5:1-3) .as God wants .. , that is the task of the clergyman to take care for the flock. It is not important what the people want, but Gods wiliness is decisively. The clergyman should always obey the word of God above the wiliness of people. The word of God should always come first! Even if the majority of the community wants something else, than the clergyman should obey the Word of God, because of the fact we read in the Bible,, Do not follow the majority when they do wrong .(Exodus 23:2)be examples to the flock .. It is also very important to be an example to the flock of God. A clergyman is the ambassador of the Lord, so his behaviour has to be in accordance with the word of God! Some times I hear some clergymen preaching in the church: " ..dont imitate us in our doing, but obey the things we tell you ."But the Bible is telling me that a clergyman should be an example to the flock of God. When his behaviour as a leader of a Christian community is not in accordance with the word of God means, that such Christian leader is neglecting his duty. Due to his behaviour many simple believers will be than mislead. In connection with this, it is not just to a clergyman to say:.." " ..dont imitate us in our doing, but obey the things we tell you ." , because he should give an example in order to encourage the people following him! That is his duty! We will return to our subject! Like I told, and like we all know, some of the clergymen give without any restriction permission to everyone, who want to divorce. After all, the Children of some of them are also divorced and married again. This is really terrible! The Apostle Paul warns the Christians by telling: " fierce wolves will come among you, and they will not spare the flock. The time will come when some men from your own group will tell lies to lead the believers away after them" (Acts 20:29-30)These are the false shepherds, these are the false clergymen who do not obey to the Wiliness of the Lord, but they are only interested in their own well being and health. Please pay attention to the sentence your own group . , this means that those false leaders, including normal people as well as clergymen, are inside the community itself. So those false leaders are no strangers! Their behaviour is so terrible and anti-God, that the Bible is speaking of fierce wolves. Some people, who want to divorce, get a piece of paper from the responsible clergymen, in order to go to Syria and marry again. This is really ridiculous and shameless! Even when those people get a letter from a angle, even than, they have no any right to divorce and marry again, because the Laws of our Lord God are far more important than the decisions and laws of people. Yes indeed, divorcing is a terrible happening, which the Lord God strongly rejects as we can read in Malachi 3:16,, I hate divorce, says the Lord God of Israel. I hate it when one of you does such cruel thing to his wife. Make sure that you do not break your promise to be faithful to your wife" Yes dear reader, our Lord God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob hates the divorce. It is a cruel thing to Him when some people decide to divorce. Please, don't make the mistake that the Lord God is only speaking to the man, but He is also speaking to the woman. Dear reader, I will now ask you a question: When the Lord says,, I hate divorce,, and the clergyman give permission to divorce, what do you think that such a clergyman is? Is he a true or false clergyman? And how about the fact that the clergyman should take care for the flock of God as God wants?? How about those people who divorce and after that still call themselves Christians? I mean, the Lord God is certainly not kidding when He says,, I hate divorce .." Is there no any possibility to divorce? Up to now we have discussed some important issues which makes clear that a Christian is not allowed to divorce according the Law of the Lord God. The Holy book the Bible is very clear about this issue. But sometimes the relation between man and wife can become terrible. Hatred, quarrel, contempt, compunction and angry can grow up to such a high level, that the man and the woman have no respect anymore for each other. They are treating each other like enemies. The situation for both man as well as the woman can become unbearable! In such situations, from the point of view of the standard of the world, a divorce seems to be the only solution. The threshold to divorce is not very high in such situations. To put an end to hatred, quarrel angry inside the marriage, one could say, according to the standards of this time, the best solution is to divorce. For this very reason, we can ask the question: Does the Bible make a mention about the possibility to divorce? In Matthew 5:32 our Lord Jesus says about this issue,, But now I tell you: if a man divorces his wife, for any cause other than her unfaithfulness, then he is guilty of making her commit adultery if she marries again; and the man who marries her commits adultery also". for any cause other than her unfaithfulness that is the answer to our question. When a man or a woman become unfaithful, means committing fornication, than the other side has the right to divorce. The question is now: what after the divorce? Is the person, who has the justice on his/her side, allowed to marry again, because of the unfaithfulness of his wife or her man? Our Lord Jesus Christ says about the situation after the divorce,, A man who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against his wife. In the same way, a woman who divorces her husband and marries another man commits adultery" (Mark 10:11) Dear reader, please pay attention to this announcement of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is not joking when He is speaking about adultery. This is a pronunciation, which certainly cannot be passed over! It is very clear and let no any doubt about either to marry or not to marry after the marriage. Nowadays we regularly live through the fact that some people getting divorced. The party who has the "justice" on his /her side goes to responsible clergyman, generally the bishop, to ask for a statement which gives the involved person the permission to marry again! As if this is not worse enough, their second marriage is even blessed in the Church. This is really terrible and anti-God behaviour! It has nothing to do with the Christianity! This is what the Bible says, "the false Christianity". They are totally neglecting the Law of the Lord God! How dare, for Gods sake, those clergymen to bless such a marriage? They claim that they are Christians, but their deeds deny it! This is also the reason the Lord God complains against such terrible behaviour when He says, "These people claim worship me, but their words are meaningless, and their hearts are somewhere else. Their religion is nothing but human rules and traditions, which they simple memorised" (Isaiah 29:13) You see dear reader? These are the false Christians inside the community. They claim only with their "lips" whilst in reality they are terrible " Christians". About such a terrible behaviour the Bible says "They claim that they know God, but their actions deny it (Titus 1:16)We will continue with our subject, namely marriage after the divorce. The apostle Paul says regarding this issue,, For married people I have a command which is not my own but the Lord's: a wife must not leave her husband; but if she does, she must remain single or else be reconciled to her husband; and a husband must not divorce his wife" (1 Corinthians 7:11)This quotation makes clear that both the man as well as the woman should not divorce. But if they do divorce, than they should stay single, which means they are not allowed to marry again or they should reconcile to each other. From the previous is quite clear that the Lord God does not let grass grow under His feet, which means that the Lord is very clear about the question of marriage after a divorce. Suppose you have a statement from the clergyman, which gives you the permission to divorce, if than, keep in mind that your are violating the Law of the Lord God, because the statement of the clergymen means nothing in comparison with the Lord God's Law!For this very reason, I am advising you dear fellow Christian brother/ sister, to be very careful in order to make the good choice in your life for the right girl /boy with whom you want to marry! You should be conscious about your choice, because it covers your whole life. Try to find out if the involved person, with whom you want marry, is really a true Christian. Try also to find out if you can love each other according the love of the Lord God, which He gave to Adam and Eva when He established the marriage. Our eyes or attention should certainly not be diverted by the nice appearances. You should try to find out, all these matters, before deciding to marry with the involved person! When do the man or the woman have the right after the divorce to marry again? . From the previous story, it is quite clear that a true Christian is not allowed to divorce. But nevertheless when they decide to divorce, due to whatever, they should stay single! The Lord God is very clear about this issue! There can be, however some situation whereby the divorced man or woman are allowed to marry again, according to the Law of the Lord God. This will be clarified by mean of a few examples. In Romans 7:2-3 apostle Paul tells us,, A married woman, for example, is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives; but if he dies, then she is free from the law that bound her to him. So then, if she lives with another man while her man is alive, she will be called adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is legally a free woman and does not commit adultery if she marries another man."As you can see from this quotation, it is very clear that a Christian nowise has the right to marry again after the divorce. But, suppose that one of the partners after a certain while dies, the other partner has then the right to marry again. This means that as long as one of the partners is alive, the other one has no right to marry. But if one of them dies, then the other one is no bound anymore to marry! In 1 Timothy 5:14 we read,, So I would prefer that the younger widows get married, have children, and take care of their homes, so as to give our enemies no chance of speaking evil of us"We see here that the apostle Paul is encouraging the young widows, whom man died, to marry again. A young widow is in the flourish of her live and why should she not enjoy the life? So, it is better for her to marry in order to avoid temptation by the Satan. This is of course also the case for a man whose wife has died. Conclusion We have discussed, up to now, a various matters regarding the marriage, divorce and marring after the divorce. A few conclusions can be made:
Our Lord Jesus says,, Man must not separate, then, what God has joined together" (Matthew 19:4-6). When a clergyman give the permission to divorce, it means nothing from the point of view of the Holy book the Bible. The Word of our Lord Jesus Christ weighs much more heavily than the statement of clergymen. Jesus Christ says,, Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Words will never pass away" ( Matthew 24:35). It is because of this very reason, the Holy book the Bible warns every true Christian to concentrate his/ her attention on Jesus Christ. In relation with the previous the Bible tells us,, My Christian brothers, who also have been called by God! Think of Jesus, whom God sent to be the High Priest of the faith we profess (Hebrew 3:1). Dear reader, the centre of attention is Jesus, Jesus and again Jesus! He is crucified for our sins. He is the Light to make open the eyes of the people. We should never, never and again never consider the decisions of the humans, no matter what about, more important than the knowledge and the Wisdom of our Lord and God Jesus Christ, who deserves all Honour and Glory in the infinity, Amen!
