The standard on which everything should be tested Who should we believe???? A few people have asked the next questions:
It is true, if we take a look at the Christian world, than you will find out that there are hundreds denominations. All of them consider themselves as the true and the only sincere Christians. None of them shall admit they are less Christian than the other denominations, on the contrary, all of them want to present themselves as the only real Christians. The many denominations of the Protestants consider themselves as the true Christians. This is also true for the Catholics. The Orthodox also considers themselves as the only True Christians. But dear reader, Jesus Christ was either an Orthodox neither a Catholic nor a Protestant. In fact He was in His origin a Jew as the Apostle Paul say in Romans 1:3. The question is thus: How do we know which Church is the True Church? Which teaching is the true teaching? Yes, often we say that our Church is the True Church! However also the Catholics, the Protestants, the Baptists and others say they have the only true Church. You see dear reader, the subjects that are very logical to you and to me, can be strange to a Christian from other denomination and visa versa. The point is thus: Is there a way, a standard to find out what is actually the Truth? How do we know if the teachings of the Syrian, Coptic, Armenian, Catholic and Protestants are in agreement with the Truth? Another point is that inside our community many times on different occasions I have heard,, This or that teacher is very good, because he has studied in the very famous Monastery Saint Gabriel and so he knows everything about our religion" Or "That teacher has been educated for many years by the Patriarch in Damascus and so he is very good" Or "He has studied for many years in the Saint Matta Church in Iraq and so he can explain everything perfectly" Or " He is very good scholar, because he wrote many books" Or "The Church fathers have already explained the Holy Bible, why should we engage in the Holy Book? " etceteras Again the question is: Whom should we believe? What is the truth and how can we discover this? How can we check out whether a view of a teacher or a Church father of the Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox Church is true? How can we convince ourselves of the truth? Is there a standard on which every theory and thought can be tested? What do we have at our disposal to find out the True? Is there a touchstone on which everything can be tested? Here below I shall try to give answer on these questions.
The apostle Paul says,, It is clear that Christ Himself wrote this letter and send it by us. It is written, not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God . (2 Corinthians 3:3) In the time of the Apostles many people doubted about their authority and many times they were accused and persecuted. However, the apostle Paul wants to express that they got the message from the hands of Christ to write the Holy Bible! It is not their personal teaching, but it is the teaching coming from the Christ Himself. The Holy Apostle wants here to underline the importance and authority of the Word of God. The Word of God is not written by scientists, but by the Spirit of the living God! Therefore, a true Christian should concentrate his attention on the Word of God, it means, on the Holy Book the Bible. The Holy Book the Bible is the only standard in the life of every true Christian. To express that only the Holy Book the Bible is valid, he says,, Observe the proper rules ( 1Corinthians 4:6). These proper rules are taught in the Holy Book the Bible, which is written with the Holy Spirit. By studying the Holy Book, one can find out how to lead a life in agreement with these proper rules. From this sentence it becomes clear that only the Holy Bible is valid in our daily life. The human view, ideas and thoughts are not of interest in comparison with the Holy Book the Bible! The most important matter is the Word of God, the proper Rules, the Holy Book the Bible. Other scriptures and writings are nothing in comparison with the Holy Book the Bible. The apostle Paul and others express many times through the Holy Book the Bible the importance of the Word of God. Their message is always,, Concentrate your attention on the Holy Book the Bible". The apostle Paul is telling us in Galatians 1:20 "What I write is true. God knows that I am not lying!" . The truth is the fundament of the Christian faith. Yes our Lord Jesus Christ Himself is this truth. He says about Himself: "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one goes to the Father except by me" (John 14:6). And what does the apostle Paul tells us? As a result of this, he says: "For it is not ourselves that we preach; we preach Jesus Christ as Lord ..(2 Corinthians 4:5). This true is Jesus, which is revealed in the Bible. That is the reason why we have to follow the truth and concentrate our eyes on Him as the Bible makes clear in Hebrew 3:1 where we read: " My Christian brothers, who also have been called by God! Think of Jesus, whom God sent to be the High Priest of the faith we profess". The aim of our life is obeying Jesus Christ! Also Jesus is demanding this from us as we can read in Matthew 10:38 "Whoever tries to gain his own life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for my sake will gain it." This is exactly what the apostles of the Lord have done. Their aim was never to make people happy, but to preach the truth, that means Jesus Christ. They were not interested to get offers from the people or to get a good reputation, no, dear reader, they were always obeying the wiliness of God! The Apostle Paul says: "Does this sound as if I am trying to win mans approval? No indeed! What I want is Gods approval! Am I trying to be popular with men? If I were still trying to do so, I would not be a servant of Christ (Galatians 1:10). And in Philippians 3:8-9 we read: "Not only those things; I reckon everything as complete loss for the sake of what is so much more valuable, the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord. For this sake I have thrown everything away; I consider it all as mere refuse, so that I may gain Christ and be completely united with Him." Not the approval of the humans is important, not the ideas or the knowledge of the men, or the intelligent or whatsoever, but the unconditionally approval of the Lord God is the most important case a Christian should do. That is also the reason when we read,, Some people keep on doing good, and seek glory, honour, and immortal life; to them God will give eternal live. Other people are selfish and reject what is right, in order to follow what is wrong; on them God will pour out His anger and fury (Romans 2:7-8). Obeying the word of God is the most important assignment the Christian has to do! The apostle have thrown everything away in order to follow Jesus Christ. His goal in his life was getting closer to Jesus Christ and to be united with Him. Obeying the "world" and the Lord God are two different ways, which cannot be united together. Due to the previous we read in James 4:4 "Unfaithful people! Dont you know that to be the worlds friend means to be Gods enemy? " And in James 4:5 we read: "Dont think that there is no truth in the scripture that says. "The spirit that God placed in us is filled with fierce desires" The previous story is applicable for every Christian, who want to became closer to the Lord God. So, dear reader, our Standard is the Holy Book the Bible. Each issue, idea, proposal, suggestion and theory we first have to test it on the basis of the Standard. When the idea pass the standard, means that this is in agreement with the wiliness of the Lord God.
The apostle is emphasising on the importance of the Holy Book the Bible, because he knew that many people would come and change the Word of God. That is the reason he says to everybody,, You, as follower of Jesus Christ, should only obey the proper rules which are revealed in the Holy Book the Bible. It is the Word of God, it is the Truth." There is a very clear promise with regard to the understanding of the Holy Book the Bible where we read ,, But you have had the Holy Spirit poured out on you by Christ, and so all of you know the truth" (1John 2:20) The Apostle John is speaking to the people of Ephese. He is speaking to an ordinary people, just normal people of the street. He does not speak to professors, clergymen or other special persons. The message of John is meant for very simple people who obey the Lord God unconditionally! Again the apostle says,, But as for you, Christ has poured out His Spirit on you. As long as His Spirit remains in you, you do not need anyone to teach you. For His Spirit teaches you about everything, and what He teaches is true, not false. Obey the Spirit's teaching, then, and remain in union with Christ"(1John 2:27) The teachings of the Spirit are revealed in the Holy Book the Bible! When a true Christian go to the Lord God and ask Him for wisdom, then the Lord God shall give him wisdom and knowledge because For God judges everyone by the same standard (Romans 2:11). The Apostle Paul says,, For you know the instructions we gave to you by the authority of the Lord Jesus. God wants you to be holy " (1 Thessalonians 4:2-3) These instructions are revealed in the Holy Book the Bible. It is very obvious to the apostle Paul that everyone should know the Holy Book the Bible in order to understand the Holy Book! If we do not study the prophetically words of the Holy Book, how can we understand the instructions which are written in the Bible? How do we know what are the requirements of understanding? Otherwise, how can we discover the truth? Every True Christina who studies the Holy Book shall also understand the meaning of the Holy Book the Bible. During the history of the Church many people have tried to teach false instructions in order to lead people in astray. The Apostle Paul urges us to obey only the Holy Book the Bible in order not to be misled by false doctrines. In that time there were many people who attacked the teachings and the instructions of the apostles of the Lord with the result that many simple believers were misled. That is the very reason that the Apostle Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 4:8 "So then, whoever rejects this teaching is not rejecting man, but God, who gives you His Holy Spirit" The apostle Paul again expresses the importance of the Holy Book the Bible and says,, That is the gospel, the message that I preached to you. You are saved by the gospel if you hold firmly to it (1 Corinthians 15:2). The message of the Apostle Paul is revealed in the Holy Book. Only to study the Holy Book the Bible, it means, the standard, one can find out what is the true and what is false! Holding firmly to it, means only the Holy Book is valid! In 2 Timothy 3:14-15 we read,, But as for you, continue in the truth that you were taught and firmly believe you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to the salvation through faith in Jesus Christ " We see here that all of the Holy apostles are emphasising the importance of the knowledge regarding the Holy Scriptures. The Holy Scriptures means the Old Testament! Reading the New Testament, without knowledge of the Old Testament, you will not understand for 100% the meaning of the New Testament! Now we can ask ourselves a few questions: What is the meaning of learning the Scripture? Why should a Christian learn the Holy Scripture? What is the Secret True behind this? What did our Lord want to achieve with this? Why do they point out on the studying, studying and again studying the Holy Scriptures? I am sorry to say, but there are inside our community, and inside the Christianity in general, not so much people who are busy with studying the prophetically Word of God! They are too much busy with other matters in stead of studying the Holy Book!
In Thessalonians 2:15 we read,, stand firm and on to those truths which we taught you, .. " You see, dear reader, these truths are revealed in the Holy Book the Bible. These are the truths regarding the taking away of the true Christians, the thousands years government of Jesus Christ, the divorce and other matters concerning the Christian way of life! James, the brother of the Lord says,, Submit to God and accept the Word that He plants in your hearts, which is able to save" (James 1:21) The Word of God, that is our Lord Jesus Christ, is revealed in the Holy Book the Bible. This means that the Holy Book the Bible is the only standard which every true Christian should apply in his entire life. The Bible is the standard on which everything should be tested. 1.1 The knowledge of the Holy Book the BibleFrom the previous, it became clear that the knowledge of the Holy Book the Bible is very important to a Christian, since the Lord God reveals himself in the Holy Book. Studying the Holy Book, means to learn how to lead a life in agreement with the wiliness of the Lord. At the time of the apostles, many people considered themselves as Christians, but in reality they knew nothing about the Lord God. That is exactly the complain of the apostle Paul when he says,, I declare to your shame that some of you do not know God" (1 Corinthians 15:34) The apostle is here talking to the normal healthy people who could read and write. For this people it is a shame when they do not know about the Lord God, it means studying the Holy Book the Bible. If we study the Holy Book, then we gain more knowledge about the fait. If we gain more knowledge, then we get closer to the Lord and our relationship with Him will be more intense. If we have a good relationship with the Lord, then we can much better understand the things in our life! We then are spiritually very strong and the Satan cannot defeat a true Christian who is leading a life close to the Lord! 1.2 Put everything on the test . The Apostle Paul says "We destroy false arguments; we pull down every proud obstacle that is raised against the knowledge of God, we take every thought captive and make it obey Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:5). And in 1 Thessalonians 5:21 we read "Put all things to the test: keep what is good and avoid every kind of evil " Dear reader, this is the solution for every problem and view regarding the various matters concerning the Christian faith. The Apostle Paul urges all of us to put everything on the test. This test, this standard is the Holy Book the Bible! The knowledge of the Lord God is revealed in the Holy Book the Bible. When a theological model, or a view or an idea is not in agreement with the Holy Book the Bible, then this model, idea and thought should be rejected! Just simple as that! So, how do we know whether the teaching of an arbitrary Christian denomination is true? Well, just put the teaching on the test, it means on the Holy Book the Bible, and observe if it is in agreement with the standard! Every thought, teaching and knowledge should be put on the test. For example, a thought about the end time, about the thousands years Empire of Jesus Christ, about divorce about fastening etc.. should be tested on the Holy Book the Bible, that means on the Knowledge of the Lord God. When we hear a view of a scholar or an arbitrary church father, then we should test the view on the standard. Whose view is the good one? Well, the view, which is in agreement with the Holy Book the Bible.
We can ask the next questions: Why it is important to put everything on the test? Why does the apostle emphasis the importance of the Standard, the Holy Book the Bible? The answer is given in Galatians 1:6-10 where the Apostle Paul says,, I am surprised at you! In no time at all you are deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ, and are accepting another gospel. Actually, there is no other gospel, but I say this because there are some people who are upsetting you and trying to change the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel that is different from the one we preached you, may he be condemned to hell! We have said it before, and now I say it again: If anyone preaches to you a gospel that is different from the one you accepted, may be condemned in the hell" As you maybe know, Galatia is a part of present-day Turkey situated at the North-Eastern in the neighbourhood of the Van Lake. Probably the Apostle Paul has stayed a while with the people of Galatia to teach them about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. After the Apostle Paul left the people of Galatia, another (false) apostles went to them preaching a different Gospel than the Gospel preached by Paul. The Apostle has heard about this happening and is very upset! He says,, I am surprised at you! In no time at all you are deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ, and are accepting another gospel. The false apostles had already caused damage to the gospel of Jesus Christ by changing the true Gospel. The apostle urges the Christians in Galatia to obey only the Word of God, the Standard. The apostle knew that false doctrines would appear, so he is warning the Christians to obey only the Word of God! To underline this, he says,, there is no other gospel . It means there is no other teaching outside the Standard, the Holy Book the Bible! The apostle continues and says,, But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel that is different from the one we preached you, may he be condemned to hell!" This is remarkable, isnt it? The Word of God is so extremely solid and strong that nobody can change it, or the curse will be put on him! In relation with this the Apostle Peter says,, .some ignorant and unstable people explain falsely, as they do with other passages of the Scriptures. So they bring on their own destruction." ( 2 Peter 3: 16) These are the people who in fact change the meaning of the Holy Book the Bible. Such situation occur when the people do not test the views on the Standard with the result of forming their own teachings and doctrines which are not in agreement with the Holy Book the Bible. Another category of people is those who take over the theological models of others without testing these models on the Standard, the Holy Book the Bible! The worst of this is that they consider these models as the truth, even if the Holy Book the Bible is contrary to these models!
From the previous, it became quite clear that the True Christians should test every model on the Holy Book the Bible, the Standard in order to find out what is the Truth. We have also seen that only the Holy Book is valid, above all other books and models, invented by the Humans, even how good they maybe! The Apostle Paul says,, In union with Christ Jesus, then, I can be proud of my service for God " (Romans 15:17) Not be proud of teacher, not be the proud of scholar, not be proud of Church father, not be proud of whomever, but only proud of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour! Yes indeed, we are allowed to be proud in the name of Jesus Christ. He is the one who has saved me, saved you and saved everybody from the yoke of the Satan. The goal of our boasting should always be concentrated on the Name, the Glory and the Majesty of the Lord God and not on the glory and the majesty of the humans, even if they are very good meant! In fact, it is ridiculous and shameless to boast on humans in stead of the Lord God. When we boast on the humans, the danger is there, that we upgrade them as "idols" above the Holy Book, the Standard in which de majesty of the Lord is revealed. That is the very reason that the Apostle wanted to be proud in the Name of Jesus Christ and not in the name of Scholars or whoever! Dear reader, the teacher of the Apostle Paul was Gamaliel (Acts 22:3). This scholar was actually a Giant theologian in his time. However, the Apostle Paul never boasted on him, but always on Jesus! In 1 Corinthians 3:4-7 the Apostle says,, When one of you says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos"- arent you acting like worldly people? After all, who is Apollos? And who is Paul? We are simply Gods servants by whom you were led to believe. Each one of us does the work which the Lord gave him to do: I sowed the seed, Apollos watered the plant, but it was God who made the plant grow. The one who sows and the one who waters really do not matter. It is God who matters, because He makes the plant grow. " The early Christians boasted about their teachers and scholars. Their teachers were the apostles of the Lord. One group of Christians boasted on Apostle Paul- because they were converted by him- and other groups were boasting on the other apostles, because they were converted by them! This boast of Christians on the apostles many times led to very hot discussions with the result of damage! The Apostle Paul says to these Christians,, What the hell is here going? Who is Paul, who is Peter and who is Apollos? They are not of interest, it is the Lord God Himself. You should put your attention on the Lord God, Who is much more important than we are." Dear reader, the Apostle Paul again underlines here the importance of the Holy Book the Bible. Not what the humans say or teach is important! More important is the fact whether their teaching is in agreement with the Holy Book the Bible or not! That is the most important thing which the attention should be concentrated onto!
An example will clarify this more in detail. As you know, the Catholic Church has her Church fathers and holy persons. Also the Syrian, Coptic Church have their church fathers and holy persons. The Catholics believe for 100% in their Church father! If I am good informed, the Catholics says that,, the Pope is infallible, he is 100% good" . But dear reader, this is not in agreement with the Holy Book the Bible, because the Bible says,, Sin came into the world trough one man (=Adam), and his sin brought death wit it. As a result, death has spread to the whole human race because everyone has sinned (Roman 5:12) There was a discussion with a Priest about the Holy Book the Bible. For this man, the church fathers were far more important than the Holy Book the Bible. According to him, the Church fathers were even better than the apostles. This is really a great sin and a terrible mistake, because such ignorant and silly persons in fact deny the Truth of the Holy Book the Bible. The Apostles continues and says,, No one, then, should boast about what men can do. Actually everything belongs to you: Paul, Apollos, and Peter; this world, life and death, the present and the future - ,all these are yours, and you belong to Christ and Christ belongs to God" (1 Corinthians 3:21-22) Only the Holy Book the Bible is important! Not what the humans say or teach, but our Lord Jesus Christ, who is revealed in the Holy Book the Bible is important! Jesus Christ, who is revealed in the Holy Book is the Standard on which everything should be tested! The Apostle Paul again says,, Whoever wants to boast must boast about what the Lord has done " (2 Corinthians 10:17) Yes indeed, nobody should boast on the work of men! We should not boast on ourselves, on our father, mother or whoever, because we all are humans. And humans are not perfect! We should only boast on Jesus Christ, our God and saviour! He is the One who has saved the mankind by mean of His blood shed on the mountain of Golgotha. He is the One who has saved the mankind from the yoke of the Satan. So, if we want to boast, then only boast on Jesus Christ Who is revealed in the Holy Book the Bible. From the previous, it becomes clear that a Christian should only concentrate his attention on the Holy Book the Bible. The Lord God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob has revealed Himself in the Holy Book and that is why we have to learn the Holy Book very well! However, a few questions can be asked: Why does the apostle Paul emphasis the importance of the Holy book the Bible? Why does this holy man want to express the authority of the Holy Book the Bible above everything? Why is it to him very important that the Christians should learn the Holy Book the Bible? Why is according to the holy apostle extremely important that the Christians should not be under the influence of the men, but only Jesus Christ? For example, he says to the Christians in the Greece Harbour city Corinthe,, who is Apollos? And who is Paul? . The Holy apostle wants to express that nobody should even boast on him! What is the reason behind this? Why it is important that Christians only should obey the Holy Book, the Standard? Here below I shall try to answer the "why" questions: The apostle Paul and other apostles many times got faced with the false apostles. These were apostles who taught a false doctrine concerning the Christian faith. Apostle Paul saw through the "eye" of the Holy Spirit far in the future, the coming of these false doctrines, which are not in agreement with the Holy Book! He had many dangerous issues observed which would occur inside the Church and wanted to warn the true Christians for this danger! To avoid that the True Christians would be misled by these false doctrines, he expresses the importance and knowledge of the Holy Book the Bible. The apostle wants the true Christians to learn the Holy Book the Bible very good in order to be able to test every thought and model on the Holy Book. The Apostles warns the True Christians as follows:
Dear reader, from the previous quotations, it becomes very clear that all of the Holy Apostles knew that false Christians would appear inside the Church and cause a lot of damage with the result of splitting the Church. If we take a look at the history of the Church then it is clear that the clergymen, a monk, a bishop or a Patriarch caused all of the Church schisms. Even the Church problems today are manly caused by the ridiculous and shameless behaviour of some clergymen who actually know nothing about the Holy Book the Bible! May the Lord God be mercy with them! Thus, because the Holy Apostles knew that false Christians would appear inside the Church introducing false doctrines and denying the True way, they emphasis the importance of the Holy Book the Bible. Only the Holy Book is valid and not the models or the theories of the humans!
1.4.2 Nobody is perfect, everybody had sinned The second reason that we should test every theological model on the Holy Book the Bible is that nobody is perfect. Everybody makes mistakes and so everything should be tested on the standard! That is exactly the reason that the apostle Paul says,, All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults, and giving instruction for right living (2 Timothy 3:16-17) As you can see here, the Holy Book the Bible is the Standard and not the teachings of scholars, teachers or the teachings of the Church fathers. If a teaching of Scholars is in agreement with the Holy Book the Bible, then we should accept it, otherwise we should reject it, since the Holy Bible is deceive! We should use the Holy Book for correcting faults and rebuking errors on the theological and social issues! The Holy Apostle Paul says,, For our gifts of knowledge and of inspired messages are only partial.. (1 Corinthians 13:9) This is amazing, isnt it! Here is a man speaking who was in direct contact with our Lord Jesus. Here is a man who was a top professor of the Old Testament. Here is a man who had awaked a Child from the death. This is the man who spoke the language of the angels. However, this remarkable and Holy person admits freely, that his knowledge is restricted, it is partial, it is not the total knowledge. He was a faithful servant of the Lord, wasnt he? He had his whole life dedicated to the Lord. Why does he say that his knowledge regarding the prophecy is restricted? What is the idea behind this? Dear reader, this is really something fascinating, because actually the Apostle Paul wants to say us,, The men is not perfect, the men is restricted in his ability of understanding, you should put your attention on the Lord God. He wants actually to say us,, For the biblical matters, you should go to the Lord and trust for 100% in the Lord God who has revealed himself in the Holy Book the Bible. You should put your attention on the Holy Book the Bible, when talk about theological issues" The apostle Paul underlines this and says,, There is no one who is righteous, no one who is wise or who worships God. All have turned away from God; they have all gone wrong; no one does what is right, not even one" (Romans 3:10-12, see also Genesis 8:21). In relation with this, the Prophet Job says,, Can any man be really pure? Can anyone be right with God? Why, God does not trust even His angels; even they are not pure in His sight. And man drinks evil as if it were water; yes, man is corrupt, man is worthless" (Job 15:14-16). And our Lord Jesus Christ says,, No one is good, except God alone" (Mark 10:18) For God there is nobody who is good! Everybody is infected with the sins. Everybody makes mistakes. Only the Lord God is perfect and Holy. That is the reason that Christian should put his attention on the Lord, since the Lord is crucified for the sin of the mankind. The point is that Jesus Christ is the Stone, the Standard on which everybody should be put on the test, including the clergymen! Why? Well because the Apostle Paul says,, For all of us must appear before Christ, to be judged by Him. Each one will receive what he deserves, according to everything he has done, good or bad in his bodily life" (2 Corinthians 5:10) This is amazing, isnt it? I mean here speaks a mean who has done a lot of miracles, a man who was full of Holy Spirit, a man of incredible strong faith. He was directly in contact with our Lord and God Jesus Christ! This Apostle was one of the greatest Apostles whom the Lord God used to perform remarkable miracles as we can read,, God was performing unusual miracles through Paul. Even handkerchief and aprons he had used were taken to those who were ill, and their disease were driven away, and the evil spirit would go out of them" (Acts 19:11) But dear reader, when this apostle says,, For all of us must appear before Christ he involves himself too! So, he will be judged too! If this is the case, how should we think about our own behaviour towards the Lord? How should we handle towards the Lord God? And above all what kind of humble life should every Christian not lead to become children of the Lord? Which of our Patriarchs, church fathers is greater than the apostle Paul was? Which of our bishops, monks and priests are greater and more holy than the Apostle Paul was? However if this holy person also should appear before Christ, to be judged by Him , what would be the judgement of Jesus Christ about all of us? This holy man says,, We are not perfect, put your attention on the Holy Book the Bible". Isnt it ridiculous to say "this or that teacher has studied in Saint Gabriel Monastery and so he knows everything? " Isnt ridiculous to rely on humans? Isnt outrageous to concentrate our eyes on humans in stead on the Holy Book the Bible? Which of our teachers or scholars is more educated than the apostle Paul was? Which of patriarchs, bishops, monks and church fathers has more knowledge regarding the Christian faith, than the Apostle Paul had? Nevertheless, this Holy man says,, Put your attention on Jesus Christ .. " Isnt outrageous to rely on the knowledge of the humans? From the previous it becomes clear that according to the Holy Book the Bible, nobody is perfect! Even when a person has done so much good work in his life, he is a sinner in his nature! According to the standards of the Lord everybody make mistakes and "The Lord finds faults even with His angles" (Job 4:18) In relation with the previous explanation, James the brother of the Lord says,, Elijah was the same kind of person as we are. He prayed earnestly that there would be no rain, and no rain fell on the land for tree and half years" (James 5: 17) The prophet Elijah was one of the greatest prophets of Israel. The Lord had performed many wonders through Him. Yes, he even performed fire coming down from the heaven. On his request no rain fell on land for 3,5 years. Such a person must be an extremely holy person! Nevertheless, he was a human being and thus a sinner like everybody. That is the reason that the Apostle James says,, Elijah was the same kind of person as we are .." That is also the reason that the Apostles says about themselves,, Actually all of us were like them and lived according to our natural desires, doing whatever suited the wishes of our own bodies and minds. In our natural condition we, like everyone else, were designed to suffer God's anger " (Ephesians 2:3) We also observe here that the human being is never 100% in comparison with the Holiness of the Lord. The Majesty, the Holiness, the Greatness and the all-embracing are awesome that no one can approach this Greatness.
Dear reader, we should not make the wrong conclusion from the paragraph 1.4, 1.4.1 and 1.4.2 that we never should listen to the Church fathers. On the contrary, the Holy Apostle Paul says,, Remember your former leaders, who spoke God's message to you. Think back on how they lived and died, and imitate their faith" (Hebrew 13:7) These are the church fathers and leaders who completely gave their life to Jesus Christ. These are the leaders who only accept the Authority of the Holy Book the Bible. They always defended the Truth of the Holy Book. They never considered their view more important than the Holy Book. They always followed the Holy Book as the only leader in their life. In fact some of the church fathers were so extremely well educated in the Holy Book the Bible, that they remembered almost the whole Holy Bible verse by verse. The life of these holy church fathers, we should examine and study in order to learn something from them. But, nevertheless they still are humans! We should not forget this fact! At the other hand, they form an example for me and for you to learn how to get closer to the Lord! However, the focus point should always be Jesus Christ! 1.4.3 The wisdom from the Lord .It is clear, when a man wants to get knowledge on the Christian faith, he should go to the Lord God and ask for wisdom. He should obey the Word of God unconditionally and accept it without any reserve. When he puts his hope on the theological models, invented by some intelligent persons, then he shall get troubles. In relation with this we read the Holy Book the Bible,, But if any of you lacks wisdom, he should pray to God, who will give it to him; because God gives generously and graciously to all" ( James 1:5) Yes indeed, the Lord God gives generously to everybody, regardless his race, origin or colour! The Lord always gives knowledge and wisdom to his Children. And in relation with this, the very wise king Salomon says,, To have knowledge, you must first have reverence for the Lord" (Psalms 1:7) Having reference for the Lord means accepting His Word, the Holy Book the Bible, fully and unconditionally! The source of wisdom starts from the Lord! When a person wants to understand the ways of the Lord God, he should go to the Lord God to understand the way of faith. The Lord has revealed Himself in the Holy Book the Bible, and therefore the Holy Bible is the Source of Knowledge. The Lord shall give every True Christian wisdom and knowledge in agreement with His wiliness. In relation with this the Lord God says,, Call Me, and I will answer you; I will tell you wonderful and marvellous things that you know nothing about" (Jeremiah 33:3). The Lord invites every true Christian to ask Him for knowledge, Wisdom and understanding of the present-day life and the future. In relation with this, the Apostle Paul says,, In this way they will know God's secret, which is Christ Himself. He is the Key that opens all the hidden treasures of God's Wisdom and Knowledge. I tell you, then, do not let anyone deceive you with false arguments, no matter ho good they seem to be,, (Colossians 2: 3-4) From the previous it is quite clear to whom a true Christian should obey in order to get knowledge and wisdom. The only way to understand privet problems, problems of the world, problems of the environmental, problems regarding the future of this world etc.. , is obeying unconditionally Jesus Christ, our Lord and Rescuer. Accepting Jesus Christ means that a door of Wisdom, Knowledge and love will open for you through the Holy Book the Bible. Our Lord Jesus will than teach you how to study the Holy Book the Bible. Our Lord will also give a lot of courage in order to proclaim His name and dignity. He is the Key that opens the hearts of the human being. He is the one who is able to change you, to love, to give you warmth and to give al kind of goodness and honour. Nobody will understand the Wiliness of the Lord God, unless he first makes his heart open for our Lord Jesus Christ!
After I have discussed many issues in detail, now I will switch over to make a few conclusions. The Holy Book the Bible is the Standard on which every model should be tested. The Apostle Paul says this as,, We destroy false arguments; we pull down every proud obstacle that is raised against the knowledge of God, we take every thought captive and make it obey Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:5) If a theological model or a teaching of scholar or a teaching of a Church father is in agreement with the Holy Book the Bible, then we have to accept it whether we like it or not. If a model is not in agreement with the Holy Book, then we have to reject it! The Lord God reveals Himself in the Holy Book the Bible. Therefore a Christian should concentrate his attention on the Holy Book the Bible.
